Why do so many people have to point out that my face is long?

I have a bit of a long face, kind of like Liv Tyler's. Sometimes, when I talk to my friends and family about whatever, they might say something like "that would look good on you because your face is long"...or something like, "that girl looks like you because she has a long face"...I mean...I do not get it. Does a long face stand out that much? I really do not like it and I find it very difficult to hide that with hair and make up. Even when I was younger, people would tease me about it, especially my cousins...caliing me horseface...and it's not even that long...it's like Liv Tyler's or Cher, but not as bad as Sarah jessica Parker. Why do so many people have to point it out? I do no go around saying to people "hey, you look like this guy because he has a big nose" or "black would look good on you because it will slim you down". It just sucks because it is not even constructive criticism and there're nothing I can do about it too and I'm 26, and it sounds like comments from shallow people in high school. FML
